Famous Samba players often go to the Contemporânea shop, a meeting point for over 40 years that has been a stage for Cartola and Adoniram Barbosa. It is quite fun for Danilo Ezequiel Brito de Macedo, 13, to wake up early on Saturdays, catch a bus from Vila Nova Cachoeirinha, and go down to the city center. Respected as he is, his seat is always saved there in these “rodas” whose leader is Professor Arnaldinho. Surrounded by musicians like Izaías, who has been there for over 40 years, he feels at home. His love for these casual musical encounters can be summed up simply, “I like music that is well played”.
