Liner Notes by Danilo Brito

I’ll try to describe in just a few words my third album. After Moleque Atrevido and Perambulando, I dare to innovate in our work using arrangements and various musical genres in new compositions.

Demócrito Brito, mandolinist and music lover, always encouraged me and shared moments of great emotion. It took a lot of work to get him to allow me to record his tunes, so humble he is, but that was what I did with Viúva Assanhada and Boca de Caieira (the name refers to the opening of a clay oven, which is very hot). Dominguinhos accompanied on accordion on this last one. His excellence doesn’t need a review - I would say “genius” if the word were not already worn out. In the end, Dad was pleased.

Abraçando (Hugging) is a beautiful schottische, composed by the great instrumentalist Alessandro Penezzi and brilliantly arranged and conducted by Maestro Laércio de Freitas, who also honored me by doing the same with Chovia (It Was Raining).

Nebuloso (Misty) was performed with Luizinho 7 Cordas, who played it with beautiful and intricate 7-string guitar solos and in the second part, done, as usual or not, improvising. Luizinho is great.

Speaking of solos, notice the ones on clarinet by Alexandre Ribeiro, chatting with the mandolin on Estar Fabuloso (Being Fabulous).

I should not fail to mention the rhythm support from Rafael Toledo, Léo Rodrigues and Aragão, who added “Brazilianness” with the “telecoteco” and “caracrachá” (a special ways of playing guitar and pandeiro). Cavacos of Milton Mori and Joãozinho do Cavaco make the connection between guitars and percussion. Guest appearances by Ensemble-SP and Rodrigo y Castro add strings and flute with perfection.

All the musicians who kindly participated in this album are absolutely competent and serious in what they do. I know that with them, every note is played with the feeling the music provides and deserves.

At last, let my music be listened to without restrictions.
